Tool sharpening
We offered a tool sharpening service at our recent cafe and found this to be very popular. The feedback was excellent and our tool sharpeners reported back that it was a great service as most tools could be sharpened within a few minutes making it a fast turnaround for cafe visitors. The sharpeners used grindstones and belt sanders to sharpen the tools and this is a little noisy, but it works very well and proved a very popular service, notifying people via Facebook that the service would be available was also very helpful.

Re: Tool sharpening
I'd be very interested in seeing some pictures of your sharpening set up. How do you keep the public out of the way of sparks / machinery etc?
What would be really good would be one of the old fashioned tredle-operated grindstones, but I've not seen one for many years and where you might get such a thing is a mystery.

Re: Tool sharpening
Are you now planning to offer it every month? Or do it once or twice a year?
We wondered about offering it at the start and end of the gardening season, but am interested in thoughts, as we haven't organised it yet.

We're going to offer it whenever the volunteer who does it can be there - all sharpening considered, kitchen knives, scissors, shears etc.
